Description: Medical cannabis can potentially be helpful for neuropathy pain. When patients come off of other drugs, they have more anxiety, body pain, irritability and the calming effect of medical cannabis has been helpful to reduce that suffering.
It’s time for science and academic institutions across the world to recognize the importance of cannabis and enable it to become credible and useful to targeted populations. Just as it took time for opium, morphine, fentanyl, etc. to become widely used, it will also be a while for cannabis to gain recognition.
Although cannabis can potentially be a replacement for opioid-based medication, you can’t just start to take cannabis one day and stop opioids the next day. More research is needed on how to integrate cannabis from a pathway perspective so it's safe to wean patients off of their opioids with the utilization of cannabis.
